Building in Carlsbad
Carlsbad spans a wide range of housing — older properties near the coast, established neighbourhoods further in, and substantial newer development. What suits one does not necessarily suit another.
Coastal properties get the full effect of salt air, which is hard on metal and reaches further inland than most people expect. On decks, patio covers and exterior work here we specify hardware for the conditions, because corrosion in a connector is structural rather than cosmetic and it is hidden once the work is complete.
Newer Carlsbad homes present a different opportunity. They are generally sound and square, built to a production standard, and ready for the finish level they were never given — properly fitted cabinetry, real lighting layers, bathrooms where the storage was planned rather than added afterwards.
Yards are the other common project. Pavers, artificial turf, decks and covers turn an empty rectangle into usable space, and in this climate that space gets used most of the year.
